Magdalene Ayuk, wife and mother of a three year old daughter, was the founder and president of the Cross Cultural Conversation, which facilitates weekly discussions on diversity at Wayne Community College. Magdalene also participates in service projects with church and campus organizations. She attended Johns Hopkins University with a major in Nursing with the hope of eventually serving in the public health sector in an underserved community. Magdalene says, “As a woman, these opportunities, successes, and honors would not be possible back in Cameroon. It is the American spirit that hard work be rewarded and recognized for each person that defines the American Dream…It is scholarship sponsors like the AKMSF that enable underprivileged immigrant students like me to pursue the American dream of attending and graduating from college.
