Emmanuel Lopez
	Emmanuel Lopez is the son of a single mother who he cites as a source of inspiration, motivation and sacrifice. He gained crucial leadership skills as a volunteer in Dallas, Texas and as a fervent advocate of the DREAM Act. He aspires to eventually become a pediatrician and is attending Texas Tech. Emmanuel emphasized his intention to succeed when he said “I believe I was brought to the United States to pursue the American Dream by taking every opportunity and using my sweat, blood and tears to become the best I can be… It is an honor to receive a scholarship in memory of Akash Kuruvilla. I have read his accomplishments and am just fascinated of how much he had done and has inspired me to work even harder. I am beginning a new chapter in my life as a transfer student to Texas Tech where I plan to work hard and give everything I have.
